Sitting quietly with the intention to pay attention to your current state as it is right now (mentally, physically, emotionally), without hooking into any of these elements or their qualities, and without interpreting them or wishing to change them; that’s all mindfulness meditation practice is. Practising this regularly (even if only briefly) will automatically deliver positive side-effects. Anything else will lead to the nervous system tensing up.
